Maine Accepting Marijuana Business License Applications in December

State Marijuana

Applications for recreational marijuana businesses in Maine are available on the Maine Office of Marijuana Policy. The application is said to be open for all of December. Applications will be available for cultivators, retailers and manufacturers.

Roughly, twenty-four communities will allow recreational marijuana sales throughout the state, according to the Portland Press Herald. Marijuana businesses must gain local approval from city/town officials before licenses can be activated.

The first adult-use marijuana sales are expected to begin on March 15, 2020. Rollout is expected to be slow.

CEO of Wellness Connection, Patricia Rosi, said, “The Maine cannabis industry has been waiting over three years for Dec. 5, and of course there will be a race to be the first operator to ring in an adult-use sale. We have been revving up our engines waiting for the flag to drop and get the green light to start working.”

Those wishing to apply for a recreational marijuana business license should expect the process of completing it to take several days. The applications are said to be quite extensive. Within a week of publishing the application, state officials are ready to start looking the submitted applications over.
